Bournemouth feiert Weihnachten im Sommer
28. Juli 2009On Monday, we celebrated Christmas for our Welcome Party. The Ocean was garnished with lots of festive decorations – not forgetting the all-important Christmas tree complete with presents underneath which the students had made during the afternoon workshop. When students entered, they had to fulfil the tradition of kissing under the mistletoe, which was caught on camera – of course!

After morning lessons on Tuesday, the students were excited and curious over the concept of “natural beauty”. Beauty surely comes from within, but our natural resources should be used to accentuate our outer beauty. The students learnt how to use basic ingredients found in the kitchen to make their own simple, hydrating masks. We prepared four different types of masks using natural ingredients such as honey, oatmeal, yogurt and olive oil to name a few. While lying on comfortable mats, the rich, hydrating and edible facial masks were gently rubbed onto their faces – ensuring that the faces were fully covered in order to produce a great result. Two slices of cucumber were finally placed on their eyes; it is a known fact that cucumbers are the most wonderful and natural eye pads you will ever find. These natural eye pads do wonders after a long days work. This was an amazing way to relax and prepare for the evening event. The students lay quietly in the relaxing Ocean as they listened to a beautifully played melodic guitar song.

In the evening, we took the students down to the Bournemouth gardens to play Crazy Golf.

On Wednesday, the students were taught how to dance the Cha Cha Cha. Since many had never danced it before, we started with the basics and then gradually added new and more complicated dance steps to the routine. Once they became accustomed to the rhythm, the technique, and the Latin American hold, we put on the music and, from then on, it was practice, practice, practice! Although the students were exhausted by the end, the goal was achieved: they all had fun, plenty of exercise, and can now show off their new dance moves at parties. Maybe some will become professional Latin American dancers in the future
… who knows!
Thursday was filled with trips to Corfe Castle and Jurassic Coast. The weather was perfect. With the sun shining in the sky, a great time was had by all the students and the staff members.
