London Overnight Trip

Auch diese Woche wurde wieder ein London Overnight-Trip fuer unsere Sprachreisenschueler angeboten.

Morgens um 8:30 Uhr ging es mit den anderen London-“Ausflueglern” im Bus los in die britische Hauptstadt. Dort angekommen startete das IP-Team eine Guided Tour. Angefangen hat die Tour am Trafalgar Square und ging ueber die National Gallery, den Buckingham Palace, St. James Palace, London Eye, Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, Houses of Parliament bis zur Downing Street.

Zur Erholung zwischendurch gab es Lunch im St. James Park. Nach der 2-stuendigen Tour hatten die Schueler die Moeglichkeit, London auf eigene Faust zu erkunden. Besonders beliebt war dabei die Oxford Street mit ihren unzaehligen Fashion-Shops. Einige Schueler nutzen die Gelegenheit mit dem London Eye die Metropole von oben zu sehen. Ausserdem nutzten einige Schueler die Chance, mit einem der populaeren Doppeldeckerbusse durch London zu cruisen.

Gegen 18:00 Uhr ging es fuer die Tagesausfluegler wieder zurueck nach Chichester, waehrend die Overnighter weiterhin die Stadt unsicher machen konnten. Um 21:00 Uhr trafen die Students aus Chichester dann auf die Overnighter aus den anderen Centern. Schnell konnten neue Bekanntschaften geschlossen werden. Mit 63 Schuelern und 7 Betreuern ging es anschliessend per Tube in Richtung Hostel. Dort angekommen wurden die Zimmer eingeteilt und die Students konnten sich von dem aufregenden und auch anstrengeden Tag erholen.

Nach einem ausgiebigen Fruehstueck schlossen sich die neu gefundenen Freunde zusammen. Ein Grossteil der Students liess sich mit Celebrities ablichten und gruselte sich bei Madame Tussauds. Auch die am Sonntag geoeffneten Shops wurden von den Schuelern wieder aufgesucht.

Um 18:30 Uhr traf man sich wieder bei der National Gallery und startete die Rueckfahrt nach Chichester. Schlussendlich kann man sagen, dass dies ein gelungener Trip war.

Grafenschloss und Sprache – Sprachferien Französisch in Diez

Du möchtest gern die französische Sprache lernen, aber dafür nicht unbedingt ins Ausland fahren? Oder du kannst sogar schon ein wenig Französisch sprechen, traust deinen eigenen Fähigkeiten aber noch nicht weit genug über den Weg um sie direkt in Frankreich anzuwenden? Dann gibt es für dich genau die richtige Lösung um dich sicher auf deinen ersten Besuch in la France vorzubereiten: bei Sprachferien Französisch für Kinder im mittelalterlichen Grafenschloss Diez an der Lahn. Hier wohnst du hoch über der Stadt im Schloss und kannst deine „Untertanen“ unten im Ort entlang der Lahn beobachten und nebenbei noch deine Sprachkenntnisse verbessern.

In Diez kommen jedes Jahr viele Sprachschüler von 10 bis 14 Jahren zusammen, um Französisch, Englisch oder auch die deutsche Sprache zu erlernen. Dadurch entsteht ein spannender Mix aus Teilnehmern, die für eine durch und durch internationale Atmosphäre sorgen. Da kommt das Lernen schon von ganz allein!

Natürlich hört das Lernen aber auch bei den vielen Freizeitaktivitäten nicht auf. So werden zum Beispiel Kanutouren auf der Lahn unternommen, denn die Lahn ist der beliebteste Kanu-Wanderfluss Deutschlands. Mit Schwimmweste sicher ausgerüstet unternehmt ihr aufregende Touren durch die tolle Landschaft, liefert euch Wettrennen und entspannt anschließend zurück in Diez auf den Lahnwiesen.

Aber auch an Land wird dir ganz bestimmt nicht langweilig. Seien es die verschiedenen Ausflüge nach Koblenz oder Wiesbaden, oder bei anderen kreativen Workshops in denen du mit deinen neuen Freunden aus aller Welt, natürlich auf Französisch, eigenen Projekte realisierst – zu tun gibt es immer genug. Das im Morgen erlernte Sprachwissen kannst du so sicher direkt im Laufe des Tages bei den vielen Aktivitäten ausprobieren und anwenden. Abends wird dann zum Abschluss noch gemeinsam gefeiert, wo ihr in gemeinsamer Runde den Tag ausklingen lasst.

Auch wenn das Grafenschloss früher einmal ein Gefängnis gewesen ist, so brauchst du dich auch nachts nicht zu fürchten. Spuken tut es schon lange nicht mehr im Schloss… oder vielleicht doch? Finde es selbst heraus bei Sprachferien Französisch in Diez an der Lahn.

Oberwesels first week

The first week of the autumn holidays in Oberwesel was one to remember! Starting off with a walk through the old town of Oberwesel we heard about the history of the town, saw the church of St. Mary and got to walk on the old town wall next to the Rhine River.
One highlight of the week was on Wednesday with the trip to castle Rheinfels near the city St. Goar. The castle was enormous and our guide was very funny and entertaining. Learning about the castle, its history and parts we were guided through the big area and got to walk through the many underground tunnels of the centuries old castle. Being at some points only a little more than one meter high, the tunnels were exciting and scary at the same time and were the highlight of the tour of the castle.

On Thursday afternoon we had the knight games where we learned how to shoot with a bow and an arrow or could fight man versus man with foam tubes. In the evening our host Günter took us on a tour of one of the towers of castle Schönburg. He took us up an old watchtower while telling us the story of the long dead Elizabeth. Günter’s talent in story-telling and the scary atmosphere within the tower made even the oldest of the group shudder.

Last but certainly not least the IP Open Stage Party on Friday night was a lot of fun. The kids impressed each other with unique magic tricks, a wrestling show and much more. In the end almost everyone performed something on stage with the occasional help of some of the teamers.
The Goodbye on Saturday was very sad and some of the kids didn’t want to go home.
We hope all of them enjoyed their week in Oberwesel and five of them even stayed for the second week.

On Friday, 21st August 2009 we started our journey to England, where we arrived on the next day at 9.00 a.m. After the arrival we went to the Host Family or were checked in the residences like Hurn House or Cranborne House. On the same day, the IP staff showed us the city and the College and after that we had some time for ourselves.

After the weekend, on Monday morning we went to the College, where we had to write a test in order to be put in the right classes. After the lessons we met us in the IP Ocean, a place, where we can relax and chill with friends. Then in the evening we had a spooky party, because it was put under the Theme Horror Party were we had to dress up. It was very funny, especially because of all the costumes.
On Wednesday could we go in the Disco into a real English club and that was very cool. On Thursday some of the people went on a trip to the Jursassic Coast where we saw the Durdle Door. There was it very windy but it looked so nice and cool.

On the same day in the evening it was Open Stage time where we could do something on our own and perform on stage for example singing or dancing. Then on Friday we had the Farewell Party for our Spanish, French and German as well as Turkish and Austrian departures. It’s sad to say goodbye to the students which leave. That was for some people very hard to say goodbye.

On the weekend we drove to London for one or two days. There showed us IP staff member Yani the city and we saw for example the Big Ben or the Buckingham Palace. After that we had free time where we went to Oxford Street and the Hard Rock Café.

The people which didn’t stay over night had to go back to Bournemouth.The other people stayed in London and where we went later on that day to our hostel. After a short night we went to the city again and spent some more time there.
Let’s see what the second week brings in the IP Bournemouth Centre.

Three amazing weeks in Bournemouth

After thinking about where to go on a language course over and over again, we finally decided to spend three weeks in Bournemouth, being convinced by the short distance to London, the mild climate and the direct location to the Atlantic Ocean.
With two members of the IP Crew, Urenna and Cynthia, already waiting for us, we were really nice welcomed after the long bus journey. Then we were brought to our accommodation, Cranborne House, where we had a few hours time to relax.
Before we went on a guided town walk, we had an introduction and a summary of the daily activity programme, e.g. nail-painting, Henna Tattoo, Beach BBQ and basketball.

On our first school day we had to do a short multiple choice test, which helped to divide the students into different classes.
In class we improved our English with different types of exercises and games, which was quite interesting because of the internationality of our course.

In the evening we went to the IP Welcome Party, which took place every Monday with a different theme, like Black & White, Pyjama or Horror Party, to welcome the new arrivals. Without the great IP Crew, led by Anett, it would have been impossible to have fun.

Besides several activities in Bournemouth like swimming in the sea, shopping, enjoying the weekly display of fireworks, flying with the Bournemouth Observation Balloon and not to forget the huge IP programme, there is also a multitude of full- and half day trips you can go on, like Winchester, Salisbury, the Jurassic Coast, Bath, Brighton and of course London. For London there is a special offer called London Overnight.

So we left Bournemouth early in the morning and when we arrived in Britain’s capital we had a guided tour where we saw all the well-known sights like Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, Big Ben and the Houses of Parliaments.
After six hours of shopping we met up at Covent Garden for dinner, then we had a look at the Tower Bridge and St. Paul’s Cathedral at night and finally arrived at our hostel.
In order to avoid a long waiting time to enter London Dungeon, we left our hostel early in the morning. After 1½ hours of fears and horror we decided to go to Westfield Shopping Centre by Underground.
With this incredible weekend ending, we knew that we would have to visit London again next Saturday.

But before visiting Britain’s capital once more, we had another week full of fun, especially with the Air Festival taking place at the beach. Watching crazy air stunts with people standing on planes, we and about 2 million other people enjoyed this four days full of action.
The Firework World Record Attempt was another highlight of our three weeks.

Visiting Madame Tussaud’s , National Gallery and further shopping areas, we spent another beautiful Saturday in London.
The following week we visited the Jurassic Coast, which impressed us with its amazing scenery and Durdle Door, a natural window in the cliffs.
Before our departure we had an incredible flight on the Bournemouth Eye, a tethered balloon from which you can get an overview of the whole town.

Our time here was really great. We had a lot of fun and enjoyed our holidays!

Eindrücke aus Biarritz

IP is spending its last two weeks on the sunny Biarritz. Right after the school the IP students enjoys the last opportunity to sunbath on the welcoming beaches of Biarritz, Anglet and Hendaye. Meanwhile the activities never stop. This week we offered quite a variety of them: from a visit of Bilbao in Spain to the very atypical for the hot summer day activity – ice-skating.

Bilbao has one of the most interesting museums of the modern art in Europe – the Guggenheim museum. For over two hours we spent familiarizing with the contemporary art works, and it was still not enough to see all the ‘chef-d’œuvres’. We also went to the bowling with IP students and to the movie. No…wait… actually the movie came to us! In Tuesday we enjoyed ‘Charlie and the chocolate factory’ in French, which is of course if the part of experience of French language learning. And since the summer is almost over, the whole IP team in Biarritz would like to offer you the landscape pictures. After these photos you will seriously consider coming to Biarritz next year even if you are far beyond teenager age.

Rosalies Erfahrungen aus Bournemouth

My time in Bournemouth
I spent two amazing weeks at IP Bournemouth where I had a lot of fun, made new friends and could enjoy the programme which the IP Team prepared for us. Even the weather was better than I expected. In the first week, I especially liked the workshop IP Summer Magazine where we collected some IP gossip as well as horoscopes, made a photo story and judged the summer fashion. Also the Nail Painting was a pleasure since I first spoiled my hands with a peeling, then I could learn how to make French Manicure and completed it with nice flower stickers. One of my favourite evening events was the Black & White Party where almost everybody dressed up in black and/or white.

Last weekend I went to Brighton, the biggest and most famous seaside resort of the United Kingdom. After a guided tour and a short stay in the Brighton Museum, my friends and I went shopping and we had a rollercoaster ride on the pier.

The second week unfortunately even passed faster than the first. On Tuesday evening, the IP Team organized exhausting Beach Olympics on the beach. As we were really enthusiastic about it even the upcoming darkness could not stop us from competing with each other.

Wednesday was also fantastic as we had the opportunity to leave Bournemouth accompanied by IP Staff and we could go shopping to Poole. To finish a glorious day, there was a nice event in the Town Centre with candles everywhere that formed a shape as for example a bridge or the Union Jack after being lit.

Now it is already Friday and I am very sad about having to leave this nice town and all my new friends. Fortunately, at the moment Bournemouth is hosting a big Air festival which I am going to watch today and I will finish my stay with something special: Ice Skating in summer. Finally, I would like to thank the amazing IP Team for organizing all the nice events and workshops and maybe we will meet each other again – next year?!

Pyjama Party in Bournemouth

Another fun- filled week in the sunny IP Bournemouth. The week kicked off with the making of friendship bracelets. We had beautiful bright colours of wools and beads as the students took the opportunity to show off their creativity. Some made bracelets for their loved ones back at home and others exchanged bracelets with their new found friends.
The evening event ‘the Pyjama Party’ was admittedly one of the funniest and most enjoyable parties we have had so far. The Ocean was transformed into a big, cosy and relaxing bedroom with colourful balloons and cuddly teddy bears. The students arrived properly dressed for the occasion in their ‘PJs’ and as usual, they danced, danced and danced as they enjoyed the freshly prepared energy bursting fruits and vegetables.

The Henna Tattoo workshop is definitely one to be mentioned. The students were eager for a temporary body art experience and as usual our creative IP team did not fail to perform, the students were filled with smiles and excited about their new and cool tattoos.

On Thursday, we attended the Bournemouth air festival, which is the UK’s biggest free aviation Festival. We enjoyed the breath – taking aviation action! It surely was exciting to witness the awesome air displays, attraction and fantastic evening entertainment as well as the firework world record attempt.

How else to end an amazing week than to enjoy a group Ice skating activity? The week was amazing and now we can’t wait to get to know what the IP team has prepared for next week.
