The Henna Tattoo workshop is definitely one to be mentioned. The students were eager for a temporary body art experience and as usual our creative IP team did not fail to perform, the students were filled with smiles and excited about their new and cool tattoos.

On Thursday, we attended the Bournemouth air festival, which is the UK’s biggest free aviation Festival. We enjoyed the breath – taking aviation action! It surely was exciting to witness the awesome air displays, attraction and fantastic evening entertainment as well as the firework world record attempt.

How else to end an amazing week than to enjoy a group Ice skating activity? The week was amazing and now we can’t wait to get to know what the IP team has prepared for next week.

First up this time were the Lions with their play entitled “One Day in Chichester”. Their dramatic act left the IP Activity Team open-mouthed, glad that no such occurrences had actually befallen the students or staff at our centre! The thrilling plot involved some seriously shocking happenings, opening with the sudden death of some IP students in the refectory! Luckily, however, not even this was enough to stop life at the centre continuing as usual: the remaining students decided “Oh well, let’s go to lunch now!” It was then that the bloody knife was found in the staffroom. Naturally, a teacher was arrested. Then came the twist! Yet another victim – and that with the “murderer” already locked up! The conclusion? Somewhere, be it in Oaklands or the Accommodation Office, the library or the warden’s office, a murderer is still on the loose.  *cue scary music…*
The Penguins’ rendition of “All the Small Things” reintroduced infectious smiles to the stage. They sang with much gusto, not even put off by the technological problems that caused the music for their song to be interrupted and jokingly declared that the DJ should be thrown out!
These opening acts really set the mood for the evening. All of our students were extremely enthusiastic, both about their own acts and those of their peers. This allowed for the creation of a relaxed, appreciative atmosphere that helped even the quietest of students to step on stage with confidence and really show their talent.
A number of popular choices in dance and song had the audience clapping, dancing, singing and laughing uncontrollably in their seats. All the old favourites were featured, such as “YMCA, “We Will Rock You”, the Macarena and, of course, our very own IP dance alongside some rather more unusual choices, such as the Penguins’ dance to “Ein Lama in Yokohama”! In many acts, improvisation ruled, leading to significant confusion but also plenty of laughter!

The other plays that were performed on the night, the work of the Penguins, Hedgehogs and Snails, were a mixture of martial arts, silent films and fairy tales. Kitted out with their I Love London The mysterious ninja Snails kidnapped fought bodyguards to get to a princess. The Penguins and Hedgehogs decided to base their work on fairy tales, choosing Snow White and Cinderella respectively. The Hedgehogs’ take on Cinderella could not have been more modern – Cinderella fell in love with Prince Charming, only to discover he and the Fairy Godmother (played by another boy) are an item! The wonderful kiss at the very end of the play got a number of wolf whistles from the audience!

All of the groups’ artistic masterpieces – a giant cardboard ship, swords, gold, pirate faces, parrots, treasure maps and even “pirate love letters” – will be part of the decorations for next week’s Pirates of Chichester party.
Our students never fail to impress us with their creativity and fun-loving natures and this always shines through on Open Stage night; this week was definitely no exception!

The pool started to open this week and it is really nice to have the warm water in there as it is really needed in terms of the cold weather.
Jens offered the Cliff-walk part two, along the ocean to the other side and the participants were amazed by the wonderful scenery and the closeness to the water.
We visited Barth and Torquay during our trips this week. Barth is a wonderful city with great architecture and the first and only hot spring (Thermalbad) in the whole UK. Also it is known as shopping paradise and all the students spend quite a lot of money in all its shops!
Torquay is located in the neighborhood of Teignmouth and here you really get a feeling of what means ‘English Rivera’ since it does not look like a typical English town with its yacht harbor and all its palm trees everywhere.
We had awesome evening events like the switch gender – and the bad taste party. Especially the switch gender party where we awarded the best male and female transformation was so much fun!
Beside the weather everything works quite well and we are still in hope for some more sunny days.

Müde aber voller Erwartungen ging der erste Abend in Exeter dann zu Ende.

Musik und Tanz werden euch den ganzen Sommer in unseren Kursorten in Exmouth, Bournemouth, Chichester, Teignmouth, Exeter, Cornwall, Oberwesel und Biarritz begleiten.

This week was really exciting. On Tuesday we decided to do a Halloween Party as the theme night. The lead the students into a completely dark room and scared them- dressed up as witches, vampires and so on. Afterwards we played funny games like Newspaper-dance and Freeze.

On Thursday we had another great Open Stage. This time we started with the IP Dance and went on with a Socks Theatre. Afterwards we heard a great song of two lovely girls and saw a funny sketch of some girls of our IP team, as well as an exciting Diabolo act. A big surprise was a very young girl, who went on stage alone and sang “My heart will go on” from Celine Dion brilliantly for us. In the end we saw another sketch and a great acrobatics show.

Friday and Saturday were kind of sad days, because a lot of students, supervisors and even a staff member had to leave. So, at the Farewell disco on Friday evening, a lot of pictures of old and new friends were taken. And on Saturday everybody who stayed at the centre went to the bus to say goodbye to the ones who left. We also want to use this chance to send some words to the supervisors who left – Lena, Hanna, Lina and Julia – , because they did a really good job with the kids and became great colleagues and friends for us. We really appreciate how you influenced our centre with your different and special characters and ideas. And we also want to claim again how sad we are about our Sports Manager Pierre-Axel already having to leave. Nobody wants to realize that he went home, because it was a big wish to close the centre in the end of the summer together as a team, as we opened it in the beginning. So we wish him all the best and hope that we will not lose contact.

On Sunday we had another great trip o Cornwall. First, we went to St. Michael’s Mountain by small boats and experienced the great view to the shore as well as the castle on top of the tidal island. Afterwards we went to the beautiful city St. Ives. Luckily, the sun came out and so we could really enjoy the beautiful view over the heaven and the beach. And, of course, we still had time to go shopping or get something to eat in the lovely city with the beautiful small alleys and shops.As you see, altogether we have a great time here and we are really looking forward to have some adventurous last two weeks with our new students and our new supervisors- Julia, Ines and Meike.

While Tuesday was quite calm, the Treasure Hunt had to be stopped because someone burned the hidden clues, Wednesday was packed with dance and art Workshops, a Spanish dominated football tournament and a great Black and White Party at night, when we had to kick our students out of the students’ bar after 3 hours of constant dancing! DJ Guido from Italy put trendy house music which was appreciated by everyone!
Although the weather was not too good, the beach trip on Thursday and the other trip to Arundel Castle were liked very much. In the evening we had a Karaoke Night which was great fun….when nobody wanted to sing, it was Daniela’s job to scream very badly into the microphone so that the students preferred to sing themselves 
The best day of the week was definitely Friday. Table tennis and Badminton were preferred by most of the boys but some also decided to join the salsa workshop where about 30 students were participating. Then the best couples decided to present what they have learned at the mr and mrs ip election. But that was not their only task. They also had to dance the ip dance in couples, play simon says, do a fashion show in casual wear, beach wear and elegant wardrobe.
Afterwards they had to paint their partner in 2 minutes, do a striptease and in the end dance their salsa! All this was judged by our very critical jury including group leaders and ip staff members. In the end Greta and Giovanni were the lucky winners with one point more than Giacomo and Lavinia.
On the weekend most of the students went to trips to London, Brighton or Oxford and were also very sad about the Spanish kids that left on Sunday.
At their farewell party they presented a questionnaire about the ip staff members where Ani and Jamie were voted the prettiest, James the funniest, Andrea the friendliest, Annika the best ip dance dancer, Michaela the best prepared and Daniela as their favourite.
On Sunday the week ended with a calm movie night to start the new week with loads of energy, party and dance!!!

This week in the IP section in Cornwall we had to say goodbye to our first batch of kids. It was an emotional day but realizing that we had accomplished our very first cycle of language students seemed to have an odd accomplishment and eagerness for the next bus- load of children ready to torment us.

Looking back on all the moments from our first workshops, and evening events, etc. We have been anywhere from scared senseless to bonding friendships that would last longer than the given two- week sentence. This week in Cornwall had been one of the rainiest series of days that has yet to be seen around. In one day we have had more rain than in a whole month. Yet this did not temper our moods.

The IP team came up to the challenge and found ways to entertain and motivate the kids to stay in a good mood. On one evening we had a casino that soared with everyone’s excitement. We as a team made paper money printed in the model of the American bill that best represents the casino atmosphere. Our faces, each of the IP staff, were printed onto the bill.

Handing each child a certain amount to gamble with they circulated throughout all the tables trying their hands at blackjack, Texas hold’em, dice, and five -card draw. After everyone accrued large amounts of money they could spend their earnings in the office where the IP store is located. Workshops as well pulled the students minds off of the rainy days. We played ping pong tournaments, indoor badminton, dance class, and especially handcrafts where the children decorated the ocean in preparation for the evening events displaying the work of the very talented students. When the students finally had gotten to know one another and the awkward tension had fallen the evening events went off flawlessly. Karaoke night filled the air of bad singers, YMCA dancing, and we are the champions getting lodged in your mind. The IP disco was almost every other night after an event; man do the Italian students love to dance! The theme parties were probably the most popular with beach, and a cross-dressing the children went stark mad with dancing.

Some of the boys looked like girls, and the girls like manly boys. It was a true gender confusing night. The weeks have gone by so fast for our first group of children. There was hardship, turmoil, and hair ripping events. Over all above everything the children made the whole experience worth every minute. Seeing them exceed and actually learn and understand English makes it one of the most rewarding things to witness.
