Auch in der dritten Woche in Biarritz war unseren Teilnehmern an der Sprachreise Französisch das Wetter gut gesonnen und so entstanden diese wunderschönen Fotos !

Une soiree pour les amoureux!!

Vendredi soir, nous avons assisté au feu d’ artifice organisé par la ville de Biarritz, la plus grande partout l’ Hexagone!
Il a été tiré depuis les rochers entre la grande plage et le vieux port.

Nous étions au rocher de la vierge pour avoir une vue imprenable du spectacle avec en arrière plan la grande plage de Biarritz.
Beaucoup de monde était au rendez-vous et le spectacle vraiment réussi. A noter pour les amateurs et les amoureux, les premières fusées formaient un cœur. Tres tres belle!!!

Exmouth goes crazy

Last week we had new workshops, for example Cream tea. During this workshop our students tried national East Devon specials: scones with clotted cream, jam and black tea.

Another workshop was Nail Arts- our students could draw even on the nails. We also had funny evening events, e.g. Hula Hula welcome party it was so funny that even Spanish and German group leaders were dancing Macarena.

Students also enjoyed the Las Vegas Game night where they were playing roulette, pocker and the lucky wheel.
Two more supervisors Felix and Sylvi arrived to Exmouth last weekend. Felix plays guitar, so now IP team can perform on the stage:)

Exeter Streatham – Theme Night

The last week on Exeter Streatham Campus has just passed and a lot of exciting days have kept the students busy. Since it was the last week for the students as well as for the staff members, it was a little strange but still everybody enjoyed it a lot.In the afternoons the students we’re offered creative workshops like creating postcards themselves (which ended up in kind of like a body paint workshop), a henna tattoo workshop and a party preparation workshop for the big Harry Potter Theme Night on Wednesday. In the afternoon the students created some decoration, as well as wands or robes for the other students. The ocean was transformed to Hogwarts dining room with a wicked magical atmosphere. The students we’re send to the different houses by the “talking head” and then the evening could start with good music, drinks, snacks and some games.

This week we also had a Bingo Night, a Karaoke Night and we offered them to go to the cinema. For those who wanted to stay on the Campus, we offered a “Gut Drauf” evening, with massages, facial masks as well as feet and hand peelings.

Friday Night we had a Farewell Party with drinks, snacks, music and a diashow with the pictures that have been taken from the students and the staff. We also handed out little booklets so the students could exchange e-mail addresses and phone numbers to make sure they can keep in touch. The sad part was saying goodbye to everybody. Altogether we had a great time on our campus with all the people here, which makes leaving really hard for some people. But still – we had a stunning summer and we all hope that everybody made new friends. Not only from their own country but also from foreign countries. Maybe, if they want to, they can see each other again some day.

Bournemouth Talbot – Jurassic Coast

The clock had just turned 8.00 am when the first students entered the cafeteria at the Talbot campus. The students looked tired until we reminded them that today was not like any other day; today is the day for our adventure trip to the Jurassic Coast!

One hour and a half later twelve students and three members of staff took the bus, as well as the ferry, from Bournemouth to the Sandbanks in the beginning of the South Coast. Every one of us was happy to get off the bus and get into the nice water for a couple of hours. The sun was shining whilst some were swimming and playing in the water, others were sleeping on the beach or collecting sea shells.

When it was time for lunch we grabbed all of our things and continued with the bus to Swanage. This small city was very appreciated by our students. Not only due to the fantastic weather, but also because of the old English grocery shop we found. We were delighted to see our students laughing, talking and enjoying pieces of typical English sweets together in the sun. We also met one of the kind local persons from the small city. He offered his help with taking our group pictures (notice the plural; ALL of our students attacked him with their hi-tech cameras. So in the end he stood there with six cameras around each arm). Finally, he asked kindly if someone wanted to make a photo with his own camera portraying himself and all the girls so that his wife would believe him when he told her about today’s adventures.

After the small break and photo session we began to walk. First uphill, then the path was straightened out and we could feel the fresh breeze from the sea. When we got to the top we could not believe our eyes; the view was ever so fantastic! Sure, we had heard and read about them Old Harry Rocks over in Swanage, but never ever that we could have imagined what was in front of us at that point; completely white cliffs and the wonderful sea. The grass was greener than ever before and the sun was still shining as we looked down the 60 millions years old Harry Rocks (from a hundred metres fall).

We had our lunch at this incredible place, and rested our feet for a while before continuing our journey along the Jurassic Coast. We could tell that all of us were moved by the beautiful scenery since the two hours of walking felt like less than fifteen minutes!

After feeling like the hobbits from the movie Lord of the Rings we reached civilization once again, this time it took the shape of the Swanage Beach. After the long walk in the sun we were delighted to swim in the cool sea again.

The clock struck 18.30 and we got on another bus. This time the bus took us to our last and final stop; the Corfe Castle. We watched the old ruins from the once great castle, meanwhile the sun decided that enough was enough, and slowly started to descend.

After some running and chasing of the wrong bus we got on the right one which took us via Poole and Bournemouth City back to our home in Talbot. With tired feet, sun kissed faces and empty stomachs, we returned to the rest of the students and joined their Pasta Party in our IP Ocean at 21.30.With a newfound peace in mind we went to sleep, and dreamed of the Old Harry Rocks, the Sandbanks, the Swanage Beach and the Corfe Castle.

Last but not least, we would like to thank Anja, our amazing Trip Manager, for arranging this extra trip for us. The Adventure Trip along the Jurassic Coast is something that we’ll never forget about as long as we live.

Nous sommes, bien sur, a Biarritz……….mais avec tout le yoga qui était pratiqué cette semaine, on a vraiment eu le sentiment que nous etions dans un film de Bollywood!

Beaucoup des éleves etait tres reposés après………et ils veulent plus de la meme pour la semaine prochaine . Autremment, ils ont encore profité du grand soleil, et ont suivi tout l’action de la grande fete de rugby a la plage d’Anglet…

Peut-etre ils etaient inspires, et on a vu les joueurs internationaux pour l’Allemagne, Espagne ou L’Angleterre?

Cette semaine, on a élu notre <>!!! Un peu evoquants des > americains, les étudiants (un garcon et une fille) ont du convaincre l’audience qu’ils ont tous les valeurs necessaries d’etre choisi devants leurs concurrents!

Avec beaucoup des cocktails (non-alcooliques comme d’habitude), les chips et les juices, la soirée dans notre jardin a l’Auberge était tres bien passé!
On est vraiment tres heureux a maintenant, qu’il fait si beau, et on éspere que ca continuera partout l’été!

New week in Cornwall

When the third week started, we thought we are getting into routine…but the students are coming up with surprises every day.
You will never know what happens the next, its just up to us to prepare us as good as possible…for everything. This week we had a lot of fun, especially on Monday. We went to swanpool beach and did some watersports which includes kanuing, kajaking, raft building and of course jumping from rocks.

The rest of the week was more relaxing cause the wether was quite nice which gave us the chance to spend time at the beach.

I hope the weather stays like this that we will have the chance to offer more outdoor sports… but all in all we have a great time together…

Oberwesel-Eurovision Song Contest

The far from Posthumous Papers of a Language Camp…Well…? Did you hear us? You should have done: the /Eurovision Song Contest/ was recreated on a slightly more manageable scale in Castle Schoenburg on Tuesday. Wild card Turkey won, if you really insist on knowing the result, singing Gwen Steffani’s /What You Waiting For?/ Guess where we were on Monday? Our record for a bilingual tour of Oberwesel now stands at 31 minutes.

Whilst this is a commendable achievement, we were nevertheless trying too hard, and breaking the record was ever so slightly completely unintentional. We will adopt a more leisurely approach next time. We’re beginning to suspect that Castle Schoenburg operates in an ice-cream-based economy; we seem to use enough of the stuff whenever we’re in town. The Wednesday trip took us to Castle Rheinfells, where we missed a turning in the underground tunnels. ‘Reverse!’ isn’t a command which elicits an immediate effect in a line of fifty students in a dead-end cellar, but it works. Eventually.

Herr Caspari (Yay! Don’t hold your breath, but we’ve finally managed to translate his job into English – he’s the castle warder) again masterminded this week’s /Ritterspiele/. This was another chance to hone our skills in archery, tactics in the field, crossbow shooting and jousting. Damsel wooing was also on the cards, but Federica was prepared to give her favours for as little as “viva Italia”! At open stage Princess Sheldon von Schoenburg was listening to /Tokyo Hotel/ in his tower (don’t ask – just don’t) and the theatre group slayed a dragon. We never found out why, but they did it with great bravery and courage. The two-weekers (we like the German: /die Zweiwochigen/!) went to Cologne on Saturday, climbing the cathedral, and visiting the chocolate factory.
They then went up in the world on Sunday, to walk along the top of the valley to St Goar, and then sailed back past the Loreley cliffs. The boat made it back in one piece.

While the rain was falling outside, inside the campus of Streatham – things were just warming up.
When the IP group from Exeter St Luke’s campus joined IP Streatham, bringing over 200 students and IP members together.

The afternoon was filled with sports and workshops including dancing, beauty & “Gut Drauf”, face painting, creative writing, photography, … & ‘chilling’ with new friends.With over 8 nationalities present, it was truly an “International Project”.

The IP teams from both Streatham and St Luke’s campus were busy all morning preparing for this special event – a first of its kind for IP Exeter this season.
In spite of all the hectiness, Angelika, centre manager from St Luke’s said she was “looking forward to seeing what will come out of this afternoon of intercultural mixing and meeting of new people”.
The workshops were followed by a fun evening BBQ and a disco. 
