Welcome Party – YAAH MAAN!

This week all the future IP staff is coming together in Osterode am Harz. After long and exhausting journeys the IP training started with a big Welcome Party on Thursday night. Everybody was supposed to wear a costume, which is typical for their future college’s country. If you had been there, you would met some cow girls, Mexican ladies, Spanish chicas, Italian bellas and French beauties and last but not least Bavarian Dirndls.
Host of the night was a special guest from Jamaica – the legendary, brilliant, bravo and super MC Ganja Man Maik. YAAH MAAN! Young and enthusiastic people from all over the world were welcomed with a tasty cherry-banana drink.
After MC Ganja Man Maik had welcomed his people, the party has started with a little “speed dating game”, followed by a monstrous polonaise. YAAH MAAN! One of the big highlights was the IP Olympics. Three groups of 6 members were competing in funny games. The Olympics started with the spoon game, in which the groups had to form a line by pulling a spoon with a long string through their clothes. The coin game was up next – the teams had to cross a certain distance with a coin between their knees – and it looked quite funny! After that the teams were split into pairs and then had to put a Spaghetti in a macaroni by mouth, which was quite tricky, but nearly all finally managed to do so! Last game of the Olympics was the beer mat game. So the challenge was: Don’t touch the ground aside from the beer mats…
When all these games came to an end, the famous underground star DJ Neil from Newcastle in England played some brilliant, bravo and super international music. The crowd was dancing and jumping on the dance floor ‘til the lights went off. YAAH MAAN! This party was the beginning of this years’ great and successful IP training workshop and everybody is happily looking forward to work for IP in the summer 2010.

Gut Drauf in Osterode

16 years ago the Federal Centre for Health Education established the concept of “Gut Drauf”, which is part of the International Projects’ concept since 2009. This concept offers perfect possibilities of a balanced combination and integration of exercise, healthy nutrition and relaxation in young people’s living. The daily program in your language club incorporates these three elements perfectly.
The afternoon activities include games like tennis, soccer, basketball and volleyball as well as trips to the beach or the hills where you can walk, swim or climb. During the whole day, fresh fruits, juices and vegetables are available for small healthy snacks in form of an apple cake, banana shake or a plum to go. Moreover, there is always time and a location to calm down, relax and to talk in a warm atmosphere.
Therefore, “Gut Drauf” improves the feeling of body and soul and supports your well being.
Furthermore International Projects wants the students to learn how to use this concept in their everyday life, to show how the combination of exercise, healthy nutrition and relaxation improves the quality of life, health and mood.
The students learn different ways how to prepare a healthy meal and how to use fruits in different ways. A delicious pie with fruits for the favourite coffee break, a sweet juicy fruit salad or fruit cocktails.
The “Gut Drauf” concept will playfully become part of each student’s life.
You will have a great summer vacation, improve your language skills meet new friends and learn how to integrate the healthy lifestyle in your everyday life- and maybe in the life of your family and friends.

International Projects starts and the world meets in Osterode

During the Ascension Day’ weekend Osterode, a little village in the Harz, turns into a melting pot of nations.
People from all over Europe from Southern Spain to Northern Germany, from Romania to the UK as well as from Mexico and the USA meet in Osterode to prepare for an awesome summer. The temperament from the south mixes with the open minded West while the East spends its creativity and the North its calmness in stressful situations. During the five days in Osterode, these young international people are growing together in order to perform as a perfect team or even as a family.
International Projects means international teams. Offährte Sprachreisen ensures an international environment for staff and students from all over the world. Therefore, the language club forms a perfect opportunity to learn and practice your foreign language skills as well as your knowledge of different culture and nationalities. TTT-Time – “Time to talk”

During the summer months a lot of international students spend their holidays in an IP centre together. Our students live, learn and spend their free time with students and IP staff members from all over the world. Sometimes it’s not easy to make sure, that everyone feels fine, welcome and integrated into the team. To solve these problems and create certain time of the day to talk about everything that matters the IP Team invented the TTT-Time.

Every single student has a fixed contact person he can talk to. TTT-Time offers them the opportunity to bring up all kinds of wishes or problems. Therefore the IP team organises a daily meeting in the afternoon, where a small group of students and one staff member come together and sit down to talk about everything that makes someone tick.
No matter what our students have on their minds or what they want to talk about, whether they are home sick, have problems with other students or their host family or if they just do not have a good day, the IP staff always has a sympathetic ear for the students. With this TTT-Time we make sure, that every single student has a great time during their stay in a foreign country and feels welcome and comfortable in the IP Centre.
So we’re looking forward to a great summer with loads of smashing moments to remember and talk about!

Reiseleiterausbildung 2009

Vom 21.-24.05.2009 fand unter Regie des IP Ausbildungsteams die diejährige Reiseleiterausbildung von OFFÄHRTE Sprachreisen in Osterode am Harz statt.

Was gibt Dir den Kick? Na klar: Der Kick!

Ein Kick…

… ist eine kurze, energiegeladene Aktion, die meistens etwas mit körperlicher Bewegung zu tun hat (Koordinationsspiel, Bewegungsspiel).
… kommt immer dann zum Einsatz, wenn man eine Gruppe nach einer Pause oder vor einer neuen Einheit aktivieren will.
… kann dazu dienen, eine große Gruppe in kleinere (Arbeits-)Gruppen einzuteilen (Gruppenfindungsspiel).
… soll Spaß machen und alle Teilnehmer integrieren!

Und das waren die Kicks, die wir während des Seminars erlebt haben:

Man stellt sich circa 80 junge Menschen vor, die auf der Suche nach ihren Familien namens Meier sind. Doch da gab es ein kleines Problem. Meier. Meyer. Maier. Mayer.
Mit dem Hintergrund alle Teilnehmer in vier verschiedene Gruppen einzuteilen, wurden verschieden farbige Zettelchen verteilt. So fragten wir uns durch die Masse an Menschen, bis jeder einzelne seine Familienmitglieder Mutter, Vater, Sohn, Tochter, Katze, Hund, Meerschweinchen usw. mit dem Nachnamen Me(a)i(y)er gefunden hatte.
Am Ende gab es noch von jedem Team ein Gruppenfoto und nebenbei haben sich die einzelnen Teilnehmer etwas besser untereinander kennen gelernt.

Nach einigen Stunden Seminararbeit war es Zeit für den nächsten Aufmunterungskick.
Diesmal stellten wir uns alle in Form eines riesigen Kreises auf. Es gab eine kurze Erklärung und schon bewegten sich jeweils drei nebeneinander stehende Mitspieler wie überdimensionale Toaster, Mikrowellen, kotzende Känguruhs, Vögel und verschiedene andere Formationen.
Abwechselnd wurden verschiedene Teilnehmer von einem in der Mitte stehenden Mitspieler dazu aufgefordert spontan eines dieser Beispiele zu performen.
Nicht nebensächlich war dabei die Namen der anderen Supervisor, Centermanager und –administratoren zu lernen.

Um alle Teilnehmer aus der Müdigkeit heraus zu locken wurde am Samstag Früh der dritte Kick durchgeführt.
„Wer hat Angst vor dem Monster?“ – war hier die Frage. „Nobody!“ riefen fast 80 Teilnehmer, die sich in einer Reihe gegenüber des Monsters aufgestellt hatten. Dann rief das Monster „And if I come over?“. “Then we will run!” war die Antwort. Und gleichzeitig setzen sich alle Teilnehmer in Bewegung und das Monster versuchte so viele Mitspieler wie möglich zu fangen. Auf dem Morgentau nassen Rasen war dies gar nicht so einfach, aber schnell hatte das Monster einen nach dem anderen eingefangen und diese Mitspieler mussten dann auch als Monster die restlichen Teilnehmer einfangen.
Letztendlich waren wir alle Monster und durch die Bewegung frisch und munter für die nächsten Seminare.

Kick Nummer 4 war auch wieder ein Lauf-Fang-Spiel, was nach dem gemütlichen Picknick in der Mittagssonne alle aktivieren sollte.
Unter dem Motto „Jim Knopf versus Der Scheinriese“ hüpften wir alle über die Blümchen auf der Wiese und versuchten vor dem langsam, aber sich gefährlich bewegenden Scheinriesen zu flüchten. Doch er fing einen Jim Knop nach dem anderen und so waren die Scheinriesen bald in Überzahl und am Ende alle Jim Knopf`s zu Scheinriesen verwandelt.

Am Sonntag Morgen gab es den letzten Kick der alle Teilnehmer noch mal zusammen bringen sollte und mit viel Spaß an der Sache haben wir uns zu einer riesigen Schlange formiert. Der Kopf der Schlange musste den Schwanz, der durch 80 Teilnehmer verbunden war , fangen und somit den „Kreis schließen“.
Alle haben sich an den Schultern des Vordermanns festgehalten und somit wurde nicht nur das Gruppengefühl gestärkt sondern auch viel gelacht.
